MISSION STATEMENT


To create sustainable, community based public schools that build local community and regional capacity, provide sustainable jobs. and can meet the needs of rural, suburban, urban, diverse socio-economic communities. These models will be community driven, scalable, and can be adapted and replicated.  They will incorporate local customs, cultures and practices, and meet United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as address the issue of child slavery and sex trafficking.

  • A digital presence of all course offerings available for students to ensure academic continuity between school and home.
  • Follows recommendations in The Treasure Within: Report to UNESCO of the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-First Century.

 

Create flexible and sustainable campuses.


  • Affordable and made from local sustainable materials
  • Off-Grid, including solar powered
  • Offer additional services based on community needs/wants, such as a medical clinic, offer micro-loans, community meeting place, adult school training, agriculture, on-site child care, food distribution, child care and parenting training, etc.
  • Directly integrate into the fabric of the community.
  • Integrate existing community projects into the Community Schools environment.

  • Documents via film and academic research learnings from project.
  • Ongoing and timely sharing of data from each prototype implemented within the project to ensure responsiveness and transparency
